Markets

Over the years we have gained valuable experience designing for different industries that all have very different requirements and expectations. At Bright Engineering we have become very flexible following these requirements. And at the same time we have been able to apply our knowledge from one industry in other industries resulting in new solutions.

Offshore Equipment

Bright Engineering is very experienced in designing equipment for the offshore industry, such as equipment that is used for installing foundations for wind turbines. In many cases the resulting equipment is only build once. Still they must work from day one as they are part of the installation of a complete wind farm.

Over the years we have worked on many different types of equipment such as cranes, lifting tools, guiding tools, outrigger frames, and on sea fastening of all kinds of equipment.

Our contribution mostly involves the full detail design including calculations, reports, fabrication drawings, etc. In this process we always work closely together with our clients to come to the best possible solution.

Cranes

At Bright Engineering we regularly work on cranes. For different crane manufacturers we work on the design of their cranes, make (finite element) calculations, stability calculations, models and drawings.

We have extensive knowledge of different design codes, both for the onshore and the offshore industry. Safety is, of course, of great importance when hoisting people or loads. That is why a lot of emphasis is placed on strength and stability calculations and all our work is designed and tested according to the relevant design codes.

Lifting Equipment

A lot of the engineering we do is related to lifting equipment, and other equipment to handle and guide heavy loads. Most of this equipment is operated hydraulically.

In the design of lifting equipment we take the requirements, load and material factors into account in our design. We design according to the required codes for lifting appliances of Lloyds Register, DNV, and others.

The equipment is tested according to the requirements found in these third-party codes. It is often required to design and build a dedicated test frame to perform all the required tests.

Structural Engineering

We are regularly asked to assist in all kinds of structural design work and in structural calculations. Our engineers are very familiar with the many design codes, material requirements, and with the different ways things can be designed and made. Depending on our client’s requirements we add our knowledge to come to the best possible solutions.

At Bright Engineering we often design sea fastening of all kinds of equipment and loads. Where possible the calculations are done by means of analytical calculations, and whenever necessary FEM calculations are performed.

Mechanical Design

Machines are characterized by the fact that they automate a certain process. It’s vital to understand the client’s processes and requirements before we start our design work. Requirements include things like the available space, required speed, forces, and a wide variety of other boundary conditions.

The engineers at Bright Engineering are experienced and think of solutions in every context. They add innovative solutions and mechanisms to the machines of our clients.
